French Market

The French Market in New Orleans
© The New Orleans Guide

Located in the historic French Quarter, just at the river's edge, the French Market is five blocks of shopping, dining and entertainment and America's oldest operating public market with over 200 years of history.  The fabulous Farmer's Market is open 24 hours and offers an array of fresh produce, meats and seafood as well as the local Cajun and Creole mixes to fix them with and take back home.  You can also eat yourself into oblivion on fresh beignets and cafe au lait while listening to the beat of street musicians.
